Aims and Objectives
South Tyneside Happiness and Wellbeing Network is a joint initiative of South Tyneside PCT and South Tyneside Council, and aims to provide a forum for sharing and developing ideas in order to contribute to the improvement of mental health, happiness and wellbeing in South Tyneside.
Objectives
1. To establish an informal community of persons and partners interested in mental health, happiness and wellbeing.
2. To share expertise and develop ideas on how to promote happiness and wellbeing locally;
3. To improve communication and cooperation between providers of services and service users for mental health and/or wellbeing;
4. To encourage and support citizens in improving their own and other persons mental health, happiness and wellbeing;
Membership
Any citizen of South Tyneside can become a member of SHaWN. SHaWN is specifically looking for members from community organisations, voluntary organisations, the council, PCT and Mental Health Services. Members are required to provide their name and contact details. Membership is free. SHaWN will support a limited number of external members, i.e. representatives of organisations outside South Tyneside.
Steering Group
SHaWN operates a Steering Group with a remit to monitor and contribute to the achievement of the objectives. The Steering Group supports and oversees all activities of the network. The Steering group includes representation from South Tyneside PCT, Council, Health Care and Wellbeing sector. Steering group membership is confirmed by STPCT and Council.
Finances
As per 2009, SHaWN is supported with a (small) contribution from STPCT. Other means of financial support are under discussion.
